About the event

Homeless Lives Matter has had a building donated to us. We will be using this as a place to further help our homeless community. See the flyer and join us Saturday October 26, 2024, at 10AM.
Charlye O. Farris, a Wichita County native, made history in 1953 as the first African American woman to practice law in Texas. Throughout her career, she broke through racial and gender barriers, paving the way for others in the legal profession. Her work left a lasting impact on the community and continues to inspire future generations.
The sculpture was created by renowned artist Eddie Dixon, based in Lubbock, Texas. The dedication will take place on October 26 at 10:30 AM, with remarks from local dignitaries and community leaders, and feature a musical tribute from Dr. Naomi Carrier. The public is invited to attend the event.
